HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL at KOSHIEN
There was the meet of former champions, last summer champion Komadai-Tomakomai of Hokkaido and 77th tournament's champ Osaka-Toin of Osaka, in the semi-final of Summer Tournament at Koshien on July 19.
Tomakomai's bats got early lead and starter Masahiro Tanaka limited no-run to Osaka's school through 7th inning. Toin's starter Takanobu Tsujiuchi, who homered over the left-center field to cut the defisits in seventh, didn't allow runs to go for extra-inning after gave five runs in second.
The game had ended in 10th inning when Hiroto Tsuji hit double to score a runner Yuya Hayashi, who got double to open the inning, and reliever Shunsuke Yoshioka, who replace Tanaka in the eighth to make good controlled pitches, struck out Toin's slugger Ryosuke Hirata, who homered the three times in one game at quarter final against Tohoku of Miyagi on the day before, to end the game. Then the Hokkaido's school had gotten the right to reach the second straight victory of Summer Tournament.
Next Day Tomakomai's boys had won the 2nd consective title over Kyoto-Gaidai Nishi of Kyoto. But a scandal came to light that there were violence incidents during the club. I think, players to be beaten by Tomakomai, they seemes to be saddest and most regrettable of all.
