MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL
Big Unit versus Knuckleballer. Batters of both teams had stood in the situation where it became difficult for them even to hit a single. Jason Giambi's long ball helped New York to take over Boston, 1-0, in the series final at Yankee Studium.
Giambi's flyball in the bottom of the 1st went up to right near the poll and droped down the Main Box crowd. Watching TV, I didn't know where his ball passed, but umpire called it Home Run ! The first hit gotten from Red Sox starter Tim Wakefield had become a run. That was big for Bronx Bombers. New England's knuckleballer made a good performance to allow three hits with 12 strike-outs during 8 innings.
On the other hand, Yankees starter Randy Johnson was also good to limit only a single by Kevin Youkilis with 8 strike-outs during 7 innings. Big Unit's fastball is still alive.
Yankees' dream is not over yet to have shorten the game differences between both teams to 3 games. Hideki Matsui entered the game as the 5th batting and leftfielder to get no hit and no RBI.
Boston 0-1 New York (11 Sep)
