NAKATA DOMINATES TIGERS
It was no chance that relievers went out there. Rookie Kenichi Nakata's strong pitching gave Dragons 5-2 victory over Tigers, who had been shortened their lead to 2 games in Central League.
Kazuyoshi Tatsunami was the hero in batting tonight. Despite batting slump this season, he recieved coach Hiromitsu Ochiai's expectation to keep on entering games as the 3rd batter. He added a score in the 2nd inning to homer against Tigers starter Kei Igawa, who allowed 8 hits and 3 runs in five innings, and hit a good breaing ball Tigers reliever Masashi Sazikihara threw to homer again in the 6th inning when the 2nd batter Hirokazu Ibata homered behind Tatsunami.
Breaking balls Nakata threw tonight were marvellous, I thougt. It is Ochiai's decision that Nakata, who allowed six hits and 2 runs, was replaced by closer Hitoki Iwase in the situation of the 9th and 2 out, but it's not an exaggeration that he might become a great pitcher in the world of Japanese Baseball.
