After Kawakami got off the mound by 5 2/3 innings with nine hits and five runs, Chunichi's relievers gave no run for 3 1/3 innings to hand closer Hitoki Iwase. Meanwhile Akinobu Okada thew into bullpens including originally starting roll Shinobu Fukuhara to set up the game with no run, but couldn't reach short.
