IT IS NOT FRIENDLY
It has long, long stories between 2 nations in the history of FIFA World Cup. Mexico 86, France 98 and Korea/Japan 02... If it is Switzerland 05 or a friendly match, in which it is interesting for me that the match was held, it can be a real fight when England meets Argentina.
The match, which is the 50th game as Engaland captain for David Beckham, started to give a slight off-side each other. In addition, each team was trying to avoid passing one another leadership of the game even after it was scored by each striker, Hernan Crespo of Argentina and Wayne Rooney of England. Power of balance in the game didn't change yet in the second half. Beckham's precise long passes, Juan Roman Riquelme's Fantasic plays... The game moved to ending as it is a free kick by Riquelme.
The Villarreal playmaker found the Inter Milano defender Walter Samuel in the area of high density. Expression of sideline stuffs including coach Jose Pekerman at that time seemed to be real like very World Cup match. England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, then, showed spirits to substitute attackers, Joe Cole and Peter Crouch, whose height, 6fts.7ins., or about 2 meters, took effect.
Eriksson used Crouch for the decoy which South America defenders were more consentrated on. At last the strategy was finished by Michael "Wander Boy" Owen. Steven Gerrard from right side found Owen over Crouch with defenders and Wander Boy headed equalizer. That was not all this night. Cole's cross in additional time reached Owen again over the tall Englishman and the ball that the Tottenham striker's head touched went in past goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri.
England had deserved a dramatic win but that wasn't World Cup Final. I'm afraid that England might have showed the best strategy. Anymay, it is clear that there was born Unstoppable England !
