MORIMOTO'S LEAD-OFF HR HELPS FIGHTERS A WIN OVER LIONS
A homerun by Hichori Morimoto at opening inning and Fernando Seguignol's RBI single at 3rd gave Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters a victory over leading Seibu Lions, 2-1. The game was my first time to watch Fighters since they moved the franchise from Tokyo to Hokkaido. Tsuyoshi Shinjo, who had announced his retirement from professional baseball last week, was a San Francisco Giants' player four years ago when I saw him last time. I was looking forward to a game between the two teams.
This night, starting pitcher, Corey Lee had good performances for Fighters to limit Lions three singles for 6 innings. I thought it too fast that the American was replaced by reliever Yoshinori Tateyama, but it was because of a total of balls he threw, 114. At the bottom of the 7th, Lions coach Tsutomu Ito's men avoided a double-play to cut the deficit before coach Trey Hillman sent off Hisashi Takeda to allow no single for the opponent in 1 1/3 innings. Nippon-Ham had deserved first victory against Seibu this season.
Little of Pacific League's games can be watched on the main channels called Chizyo-ha. Indeed, I watched this match on NHK BS. I want to check out as many games as possible and to go to ballpark as many times as possible this season.
