SEIBU EVENS IT TO KEEP DIFFERENCE WITH HAWKS

BASEBALL

Fumiya Nishiguchi's strong pitching and reliever's efforts gave Seibu Lions a 8-5 win over Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in the two-game series Sunday. Seibu evened the series to keep game difference at 2 and stealed Hawks' dream for top position by their own, left two games at Invoice Seibu Dome next month.

Both teams started to pile only a score in only chance early innings but Lions got a 5-2 lead with Toru Hosokawa's homer off starter Hayato Terahara and each RBI single of Yasuyuki Kataoka and Takeya Nakamura off both reliever Kazuhiro Takeoka in top of 5th while Softbank failed to cut the deficit due to double-play in which second-baserunner Naoyuki Omura ran out there by Hidenori Tanoue's fly to center in bottom of it. Afterwards, the two ballclubs took three runs each other to end the game.

12 hits tie, 4 longballs tie, 7 to 6 strikeouts and 6 LOBs tie. Seeing the stats, likely same numbers are listed to amaze me! I don't know until October playoff which team wins finally.

match result:

Seibu 8-5 Softbank (27 Aug)
W:Nishiguchi(8-8)
S:Onodera(23)
L:Terahara(3-6)
