WASEDA TAKES HOME FIRST SUMMER TITLE
HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL at KOSHIEN
It'll be one of the most histrical games in the Japanese high school baseball, which is called the first rematch in Final since a game of Matsuyama-Syo and Misawa in 1969. Waseda-Jitsugyo deserved first summer title over two straight champion Komadai-Tomakomai next day after they fought 15 innings into a draw game on Sunday. Both ace pitchers, Yuki Saito of Waseda and Masahiro Tanaka of Tomakomai, made it amaze and impress who witness their pitching with brave and sportsmanship.
Saito, who allowed 6 hits including 2 homeruns with no walk in 9 innings on Monday, effectively threw breaking balls to collect 13 strikeouts after 7 hits and 4 walks in 15 innings Sunday. In a while, Tanaka, who had given 7 hits and 3 walks midway through 12 2/3 inning on draw game, also relieved starter Syota Kikuchi after 2 outs in the 1st but gave the opponent scoring oppotunities from walks in every earning-runs innings this day. But nobody couldn't blame him. West-Tokyo side pitcher more calmed down in good luck.
This year, Waseda might be supported by not only people concerned with school but a lot of people all around Japan, who may love the guraduated players, Softbank Hawks manager Sadaharu Oh or Seibu Lions pitching coach Daisuke Araki. Though it's very sorry that South-Hokkaido team's ambitious for three-peat had broken out, you sending a warm look to both players, reluctantly ends the 88th high school baseball tornament championship at Koshien.
