WASHINGTON'S WINNER PLACES SHIMIZU OUTSIDE THE TITLE
Brazilian Washington returned from the injury and made little of scoring chances to give Urawa Reds a 1-0 victory over Shimizu S-pulse but the striker left the pitch of Saitama Stadium midway through the game due to the left thigh injury into second half. Shimizu lost two games in a row against top teams of J-League. This seemingly let them fall off a fight for the title.
Washington, his existence was huge enough to contribute Urawa's dominating the game. It was so quick to move the game as the Brazilian well controlled an Alex Santos' cross from the left to put it easily into the net, his 17th goal this season. Since that, both teams had failed a few times to score each other. Urawa, who allowed only three goals in 11 home-games this season, denied young Shimizu's challenges to end the game.
It's questionable how bad Washington is but Reds are unforgiven to take a breath until the final match of the league with defending champion Gamba Osaka.
