NL TITLE GOES TO CARDS IN 7th GAME
Yadier Molina's two-run homer in the ninth set the place where the National League title went to when St. Louis Cardinals edged out New York Mets in last game of best-of-seven NLCS, MLB. Cards are going to meet AL champ Detroit Tigers to look for the first World champion since a 1982 team.
It was exciting series. Into the postseason, St. Louis lost Jason Marquis of 14-win starter and Jason Isringhausen of 33-save closer while New York was lack of Orlando Hernandez(11 wins) and Pedro Martinez(9 wins) of both starters. However both team's pitchers including the bullupens had limited the cleanups each other during the series. For example, Juan Encarnacion had .182 avg with 2 RBIs and no HR for Cards as David Wright was .160 with just a homer for Mets this series. Meanwhile the extra-players had appeared more in the Redbirds. So Taguchi's pinchhit homer in game 2, Preston Wilson's winning RBI in game 5 and Molina's game 7. It might be difference between two teams.
Tigers next facing Cards have a force to keep seven consecutive wins after a loss to Yankees in game 1 of ALDS, and resemble Red Sox meeting two years ago when Cards allowed Boston's four game sweep with eight straight postseason victories. More needful Game 1 win will be St. Louis. Make me amaze once more!
