KIM WINS GP FINAL AS ASADA SLIPS LANDING
Yu-Na Kim grabbed the first senior title from the 3rd place of the short program at St. Petersburg, Russia in ISU Grand Prix Final of Figure Skating Saturday. Following the World Junior Championships last March, the sixteen-year-old Korean earned a victory against same age Japanese Mao Asada, who finished the 2nd to take pratfalls twice despite starting as the short program leader. Sarah Meier of Switzerland lifted the place of the 3rd while the rest of Japanese, Fumie Suguri and Miki Ando were the 4th and 5th place each.
Under the music of the Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Kim skated with beauty and elegance using her thin and long limbs. I felt her difference when looking at her first jumping attempt when she spinned and landed very speedily. Her fighting with Japanese, especially Asada has just begun. I will watch it until next Winter Olympic Games Vancouver 2010.
I had watched series of figure skating matches this time. International Skating Union offered us different championships, Grand Prix, Four Continents Championships and World Championships... I have no idea whose champoion is the gretest, so I'll learn each history and grade of the championships although I might not know to be able to watch all of them on TV.
